How We Became Egypt’s First Net-Zero Stone Factory
At Almotassem-Zein, we are committed to delivering top-tier quality and service while prioritizing environmental responsibility. As Egypt’s first net-zero stone factory, we have adopted sustainable initiatives, including 100% solar energy consumption, water recycling, and innovative waste
transformation.
Here’s a closer look at how we achieve sustainability:
1.100% Solar-Powered Energy

We are proud to be the only net-zero stone factory in Egypt, covering our entire energy consumption through solar power. Our advanced solar panel system generates sufficient energy to run our operations efficiently. During low energy consumption periods or holidays, we contribute excess solar power to the main grid, helping to reduce carbon footprints beyond our facility.
2.Efficient Water Recycling System

The stone industry is known for its high water consumption, particularly in stone cutting and cooling processes. To combat waste, we implemented an advanced water purification system that separates dust and particles, enabling complete water recycling for production use.
Key Highlights of Our Water-Recycling Station:
5000 L/min water purification capacity
Equivalent to 300,000 L/hr or over 1 billion liters annually
Significant reduction in water waste and consumption
This ensures that our operations remain sustainable while conserving valuable water resources.
3.Recycling Waste & By-Products
At Almotassem-Zein, we believe that waste can be transformed into valuable resources. Our raw material, stone, generates significant waste at various production stages. Instead of discarding these by-products, we recycle them into new applications.
Types of Recycled By-Products & Their Uses:

Stone Powder:
Extracted via our water-recycling station, this fine powder is used as filler for bricks and plaster in the building industry. Additionally, due to its high calcium carbonate (calcite) content, it serves as an effective fertilizer.

Medium-Sized Stone Fragments:
These are repurposed into mosaics and decorative accents, adding artistic value to sustainable construction.
Small & Tiny Stone Fragments:
Crushed into gravel, these fragments contribute to our terrazzo product line, landscaping designs, and low-performance concrete mixtures.
4.Energy Optimization
To maximize energy efficiency, we have invested in dynamic capacitors that enhance our power factor to nearly 1.0. This results in optimal energy use with minimal waste. Additionally, our administrative building follows passive design principles, incorporating:
Natural lighting to reduce electricity dependency
Efficient air circulation for minimal HVAC energy consumption
Why it matters?
At Almotassem-Zein, sustainability isn’t just a goal—it’s how we operate. By integrating sustainable solutions, we reduce industry impact while maintaining exceptional product quality. Our approach proves that industrial progress and eco-consciousness can coexist.
Here's some FAQs to help you out
